About
Shiftier is an underground music and multimedia project based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The act emerged in the late 1990s within the city's vibrant DIY and experimental scene, frequently performing at local venues like Thai Joe's. Notably, Shiftier was featured in events such as the 1999 'Grateful Dead Night' alongside local psych-rock and garage-rock mainstays like Space, The Gnomes, and Subman. The project is closely associated with Milwaukee artist and musician Charles Linden, who utilizes the moniker to explore a fusion of ambient soundscapes and psychedelic visual art. While maintaining a low profile in the mainstream, the project has remained part of the regional underground consciousness, seeing renewed digital activity in the 2020s.
