Band of the Month
"I am the cream of the crop... and the cream always rises to the top, yeah!" - Macho Man Randy Savage
October 2026
Floryence
It's October and your early Autumn BOTM winner is Floryence, the indie rock project of Jared Gibson - whose hauntingly fragile voice spills ghost curses across acoustic guitar melodies to the heartbreaks and lovelorn day dreaming folks who have discovered his music. His songs, whether sung direct to you via Instagram rolls or accompanied by a full band, are yet another strong example of how brilliant the young artists in this genre are in Milwaukee right now. Is there a something in the water here in Milwaukee that binds young artists to the golden age of MKE emo bands? It feels like our seasonal depression dripped eternal grey seasons that we're about to embark upon once again is a strong breeding ground for young folks with a hollow body guitar and a series of unreturned love letters to create great music with. I will spend the rest of the month avoiding the weather report and investigating the reasoning behind Floryence's obsessive duck / mallard related musical works. If all goes well - let's have a picnic date at the lagoon asap.
