About
Pavlov's Dogs (often stylized as Pavlov's Dogs!) was a prominent ska band from the Milwaukee area, specifically Franklin, Wisconsin, active during the third-wave ska boom of the 1990s. Known for their high-energy performances and robust horn section, they were a foundational fixture of the local underground scene, frequently headlining at venues like The Globe East and the Franklin Legion Post. In 1998, the band released their full-length album 'Denouement,' recorded at the 'Walls Have Ears' studio by engineer Bill Stace. Pavlov's Dogs played a mentorship role for several other emerging Milwaukee acts, most notably 5 O'Clock Charlie, who later immortalized the band in their song 'Seven Samurai.' The group's classic lineup included vocalist/guitarist Craig Butgereit and guitarist Mike Kunde alongside a multi-piece brass section.
