About
Absinthe was a Milwaukee-based rock trio formed in 1997 as a creative side project by Sam Llanas, co-founder of the BoDeans. Seeking a more introspective and experimental outlet, Llanas recruited veteran Milwaukee musicians Jim Eannelli (Colour Radio) on guitar and bass, and Guy Hoffman (formerly of Oil Tasters and the Violent Femmes) on drums. The band released its sole full-length album, 'A Good Day To Die', in 1998. The record was praised for its darker, moody take on roots rock, distinct from the more commercial sound of the BoDeans. Though the group was short-lived, its music remained a staple of the local underground scene and was later featured in the 2012 theatrical production 'A Day for Grace'.
