About

Formed in 1999, Withering Soul is a long-running Chicago-based quartet that blends blackened atmospheres with melodic death metal. Their sound is characterized by searing tremolo riffs, sweeping melodic phrasing, and precise drumming, often exploring themes of horror, the paranormal, and cursed lore. The band has released five full-length albums, including 'No Closure' (2011), 'Adverse Portrait' (2015), 'Last Contact' (2021), and 'Passage of the Arcane' (2025). They have been recognized by publications like Decibel Magazine and Toilet ov Hell for their immersive and dynamic brand of 'death-rimed black metal.'
