Nachtmystium
About
Nachtmystium is an influential American psychedelic black metal project founded in 2000 in DeKalb, Illinois, by multi-instrumentalist Blake Judd. The band became a cornerstone of the US Black Metal (USBM) scene, gaining worldwide acclaim for their 'Black Meddle' album series, which integrated elements of psychedelic rock, industrial, and post-punk into extreme metal. The band's career has been defined by both artistic innovation and intense controversy, largely surrounding Judd's public battle with addiction and multiple instances of defrauding fans and labels. After several disbandments and hiatuses (notably in 2014 and 2020), the project returned in 2024 with the album 'Blight Privilege' released via Prophecy Productions.
