May Scarlett Life
About
My Scarlet Life was a prominent underground electronica and trip-hop band based in Chicago, frequently active in the Milwaukee and broader Midwest music scenes during the late 1990s. Formed in 1994 by keyboardist Preston Klik and vocalist Julie Axis, the group was known for its 'trypnotica' sound—a blend of sensual soundscapes, heavy samples, and dual female vocals featuring Julie Axis and Christy Cameron Smith. They were a fixture at Midwest venues like The Rave in Milwaukee and were released on DivaNation Records. The band released several albums including 'Trypnotica' (1997) and 'InfraRed' (1999) before rebranding as Scarlet Life in 2000 and eventually dissolving.
