LESSONS is a synth-pop and dark electronic project featuring Hamburg-based vocalist Patrick Sudarski and the brothers Samu and Ville Kuukka, who are also known as the founding members of the Helsinki-based ambient group The Gentleman Losers. The project is a cross-border collaboration that blends 1980s-inspired synth textures with elements of darkwave, shoegaze, and electronic pop. Their sound is defined by Sudarski’s evocative, smooth vocals set against the Kuukka brothers’ atmospheric and high-gloss production. The group first emerged in 2012 with a self-titled EP released on the German label Sinnbus. Following a period of refining their sound and working on other projects, they released their debut full-length album, Tempest, in 2017. The album garnered critical acclaim for its moody, cinematic aesthetic and emotional depth, particularly within the indie-electronic scene. Since the release of Tempest and its subsequent remix collection, the band has remained an active outlet for the members' shared interest in melodic, melancholic electronic music.
