About
Helsótt, meaning "Fatal Illness" in Old Norse, is a folk/death metal band from Menifee, California, formed on February 1, 2010. The band pays homage to pagan cultures and ancient mythologies while incorporating American influences into their music. In 2013, they embarked on their first North American tour as part of the Paganfest festival lineup, sharing the stage with Ensiferum, Tyr, Heidevolk, and TrollfesT. The following year, they successfully crowd-funded and self-released their debut full-length album, "Woven," which received positive reviews worldwide. In 2016, Helsótt recorded their follow-up EP, "The Healer," in part at Trench Studios and mixed and mastered by J-F Dagenais (Kataklysm/Ex Deo). In January 2017, they signed with M-Theory Audio, owned by former Century Media President Marco Barbieri, and have since been preparing for future tours. Their most recent release is the album "Will and The Witch," released in May 2022. The current lineup includes Eric Dow on vocals, Pete Truax on lead guitar, Alonzo Larios on bass, and Cooper Dustman on drums. The band remains active and continues to perform and record music.
