Desert Liminal is a Chicago-based experimental trio led by songwriter and synthesist Sarah Jane Quillin, featuring drummer Rob Logan and violinist/noise artist Mallory Linehan. The group creates a lush, enveloping sound characterized by spectral vocal melodies, looping vintage synthesizers, and layered violin textures that bridge the gap between dream-pop and avant-garde noise. Since debuting in the Chicago DIY scene, they have released critically acclaimed projects through Whited Sepulchre Records, including their sophomore LP 'Glass Fate' (2021) and 'Black Ocean' (2024). Their music often explores themes of grief, memory, and the 'liminal' spaces of human experience, earning them a reputation as a cornerstone of the contemporary Midwest underground circuit.
