About
Windhand is a prominent stoner/doom metal band from Richmond, Virginia, formed in 2008. The group is widely recognized for their heavy, fuzz-laden riffs and the ethereal, melancholy vocal style of frontwoman Dorthia Cottrell. After gaining underground attention with their self-titled debut in 2012, they signed with Relapse Records in 2013. Their subsequent releases, including 'Soma' (2013), 'Grief's Infernal Flower' (2015), and 'Eternal Return' (2018), solidified their position as leaders in the modern doom metal scene, blending psychedelic rock and sludge influences with a vintage aesthetic.
