About
Walter Etc. is the long-running musical project of Dustin Cole Hayes (aka Walter), originally formed in 2009 under the name Walter Mitty and His Makeshift Orchestra. Based in Ventura, California, the band is a staple of the DIY underground scene, known for their honest, jangly songwriting and home-recorded charm. After a brief hiatus in 2015, the group rebranded as Walter Etc. in 2016, expanding their sound to include electric instruments and a wider range of genres. In 2025, Hayes famously released a 'lost' album titled 'Yikes Almighty' under the original moniker after burying a copy of the cassette in the California desert for a fan to find. The project remains a central part of the Making New Enemies art collective.
