About

Formed in 1994, the Waco Brothers are a definitive force in the alt-country and cowpunk scenes, often famously described as 'The Clash meets Johnny Cash.' While primarily based in Chicago, the band has inseparable ties to the Milwaukee underground music scene through founding member Dean Schlabowske (vocals/guitar) and longtime member Mark Durante (pedal steel), both of whom are Milwaukee natives. Schlabowske previously led the seminal Milwaukee indie/industrial rock band Wreck in the late 1980s. The Waco Brothers were central to the 'Insurgent Country' movement of the 1990s, releasing a string of high-octane albums on Bloodshot Records. They remain a frequent headlining act in Wisconsin, regularly performing at venues such as Vivarium, Turner Hall Ballroom, and Anodyne. In 2023, the band released 'The Men That God Forgot' on their own Plenty Tuff Records label.
