Valerie June Hockett is a Grammy-nominated singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist known for her 'organic moonshine roots music'—a blend of folk, soul, blues, and Appalachian traditions. Born in Jackson and raised in Humboldt, Tennessee, she moved to Memphis in 2000, where she began her musical career. She first gained attention with the soul band Bella Sun before embarking on a solo career that saw a major breakthrough with her 2013 album 'Pushin' Against a Stone.' Beyond music, she is an author and certified yoga instructor.
