Trash Tape Fest is the flagship festival series and curatorial project of Trash Tape Records, an independent DIY cassette label. Founded in 2020 by Nathan McMurray, Evren Centeno, and Eilee Centeno, the project originated in the Chapel Hill and Durham areas of North Carolina before relocating its primary base to Chicago. The festival serves as a multi-day showcase for the label's diverse roster and other underground acts, spanning genres from fuzzy lo-fi pop to aggressive hardcore and experimental rock. Since its inception, Trash Tape has become a significant fixture in the Midwest and Southern DIY communities, known for its youthful ethos and commitment to physical media.
