This Is Lorelei
About
This Is Lorelei is the recording project of New York-based musician and multi-instrumentalist Nate Amos. Originally from Virginia and Vermont, Amos spent his formative years in a studio environment, developing a keen ear for musical composition. His musical journey took a significant turn in Chicago, where he released music as Opposites and This Is Lorelei, engineered and mastered numerous albums, collaborated as a musician on multiple projects, and curated the online DIY label Grandpa Bay. In 2016, he relocated to New York City, where he continues to produce music, including work with the dance-pop duo Water From Your Eyes and the indie band Thanks For Coming. This Is Lorelei serves as a platform for Amos to experiment and explore sound with a nearly academic vigor, writing, performing, engineering, mixing, and mastering every aspect of each release. What began as a more straightforward writing project in Chicago has evolved into a highly intimate deconstruction of pop music, embracing traditional pop songcraft and confessional lyricism, while maintaining a counterbalancing force of irony.
