About

The Arab Blues is a Chicago-based duo featuring Rami Gabriel (oud, guitar, buzuq) and Karim Nagi (riqq, tublah, drum kit). They create an electro-urban amalgam of Arab tradition and Chicago Blues, reinterpreting classical Middle Eastern compositions and improvisational techniques through a contemporary lens. The project was developed through a research fellowship at the Center for Black Music Research and multiple Illinois Artist grants.
