About
Six Foot Blonde is a high-energy indie-pop and soul sextet that emerged from the vibrant music scene of Bloomington, Indiana. Formed around 2020 by students at Indiana University who met through the Bloomington Delta Music Club, the band initially gained local fame as a cover act during the COVID-19 pandemic. In late 2022, they pivoted to original music, crafting a sound described as a '90s-alt-washed' blend of indie rock, funk, and soulful pop. The group features lead vocalist Julia Rusyniak, her brother John Alex Rusyniak (keys), Zach Patrick (guitar), Dom Heyob (bass), Elliott Obermaier (guitar/slide guitar), and Brian Healey (drums). After the success of their 2023 EP 'Tino’s Place', they released their debut full-length album 'Ask Me How I Am' in August 2024. Known for their infectious stage presence and tight-knit musical chemistry, the band has expanded beyond the Midwest to national tours and notable festival appearances, including a performance at Milwaukee’s Summerfest in 2024.
