shady nasty
About
Shady Nasty is a Sydney-based trio formed in 2015, consisting of Kevin Stathis (vocals/guitar), Haydn Green (bass), and Luca Watson (drums). The group met in high school while studying jazz and classical music, but pivoted to a unique blend of post-punk, hip-hop, and shoegaze. Their music explores themes of Sydney's suburban subculture, modded cars, and the immigrant experience—specifically Stathis's Chinese heritage. They gained significant attention with their debut album 'TREK', produced by Kim Moyes of The Presets, and have since signed with Ninja Tune. Their sound is characterized by aggressive vocals, intricate guitar work, and a rejection of typical Australian surf-rock tropes.
