About
Sad House Guest is an indie-rock band based in Chicago, Illinois. Originally formed in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, the band rebranded during the pandemic to reflect their evolved sound, drawing inspiration from bands like The Front Bottoms, Pinegrove, Hippo Campus, Death Cab for Cutie, and Slaughter Beach, Dog. Their music blends folk-punk, indie-pop, and alt-rock elements, featuring stream-of-consciousness lyrics and energetic instrumentation. The current lineup includes Samuel Stein on lead vocals and guitar, Ben Stein on drums, Sam Lakmann on keys and additional sounds, and Tor Kjartansson on bass and fiddle. Since relocating to Chicago in 2023, they've performed at venues such as the Subterranean, Cobra Lounge, Cubby Bear, and Reggie's, and have released two EPs: "Bugs in My Brain" and "Electric Veins." Their latest EP, "Quarters," was released in November 2025.
