Primitive Man is an American extreme metal trio formed in February 2012 by vocalist/guitarist Ethan Lee McCarthy, bassist Jonathan Campos, and drummer Bennet Kennedy. Based in Denver, Colorado, the band has earned a reputation for creating some of the most abrasive and soul-crushing music in the underground scene. Their sound is a bleak fusion of sludge, funeral doom, and harsh noise, characterized by a nihilistic outlook and a relentless wall of sonic misery. Since signing with Relapse Records in 2013, the band has maintained a prolific output, releasing critically acclaimed albums such as Scorn, Caustic, and Immersion. Known for their intense live performances and punishing volume, Primitive Man has toured extensively across North America, Europe, and Asia. The current lineup features founding members McCarthy and Campos alongside drummer Joe Linden, who joined in 2015. They continue to push the boundaries of heavy music, exploring themes of societal collapse and existential despair.
