About
Meat Puppets are an American rock band formed in January 1980 in Phoenix, Arizona. The original lineup consisted of Curt Kirkwood (guitar/vocals), his brother Cris Kirkwood (bass guitar/vocals), and Derrick Bostrom (drums). They began as a punk rock band but developed a unique style blending punk with country and psychedelic rock. The band gained significant exposure when the Kirkwood brothers served as guest musicians on Nirvana's MTV Unplugged performance in 1993. Their eighth studio album, 'Too High to Die' (1994), was their most successful release, featuring the hit 'Backwater'.
