Los Straitjackets
About
Los Straitjackets is an American instrumental rock band formed in Nashville, Tennessee, in 1988. The original lineup consisted of guitarists Danny Amis (formerly of the Raybeats) and Eddie Angel, along with drummer L. J. "Jimmy" Lester. After a brief initial period, the band reformed in 1994, adding bassist E. Scott Esbeck, and adopted the name Los Straitjackets. They gained recognition for their tight instrumentation and distinctive stage presence, often performing in matching black suits, gold Aztec medallions, and Mexican wrestling masks. Over the years, the lineup has evolved, with notable changes including the departure of Amis in 2017 and the addition of guitarist Greg Townson and drummer Chris "Sugarballs" Sprague. The band has released numerous studio and live albums, collaborating with various artists and contributing to film and television soundtracks. As of March 2026, Los Straitjackets remain active, with their most recent album, "Somos Los Straitjackets," released in September 2025.
