Liquid City Motors is the primary electronic music project of Will Mitchell, a Milwaukee-based musician, producer, and electronic instrument designer. His work is characterized by a blend of 'spazzed-out dance floor catharsis,' intricate IDM narratives, and experimental soundscapes that draw from the legacy of Midwestern club music. Mitchell is a prolific figure in the underground scene, having released music on labels such as Glacial Industries, Astral Plane Recordings, and Close Up of the Serene. Outside of this moniker, he is known for his production work under the name Riley Lake, collaborating with artists like R.A.P. Ferreira and Busdriver. Additionally, Mitchell is a designer of modular synthesizer equipment, including the Starling Via series and the AFRORACK soundsketch, reflecting his background as a 'synth engineer' and his commitment to STEM education through sound.
