About
LARB (an acronym for "Life At Road Blocks") is an underground skate-metal and abrasive noise collective led by legendary professional skateboarder and Creature Skateboards rider Sam Hitz. Emerging from the DIY skate culture of the late 1990s, the project encompasses zines, skate videos, and what Hitz calls "shitty music"—a raw, lo-fi blend of speed metal, crust punk, and industrial noise. The project is well-known for its "Vomit Box" compilation series and its deep ties to the Milwaukee underground scene, particularly through long-standing associations with Sky High Skate Shop. Though Hitz has roots in the Pacific Northwest, the band is frequently billed as being from "Brunswick" as a humorous inside joke referencing the Larb Thai restaurant in Brunswick, Ohio.
