About
The Format was an American indie rock band formed in Peoria, Arizona, in 2002 by vocalist Nate Ruess and multi-instrumentalist Sam Means. Their music blended elements of indie, alternative, punk, and folk, with influences from 1960s and 1970s pop. The band released two studio albums before announcing a hiatus in 2008, reunited in 2020, and released their third album, 'Boycott Heaven,' in January 2026.
