Flora and the Fauna

Flora & The Fauna is an all-transfem indie rock and punk powerhouse based in Richmond, Virginia. The project originally began in 2019 as a bedroom recording outlet for founder and lead vocalist Flora Dapena following her transition. After moving to Richmond, Flora eventually formed a full four-piece band after meeting members Alex (drums), Leeah (bass), and Valerie (keys/sax) at the historic lesbian bar Babes of Carytown. Described as 'sugary, synth-soaked jangle pop with a punk rock edge,' their music emphasizes themes of queer joy, connection, and resilience. The group has become a prominent fixture in the Richmond DIY circuit and released their first official singles and began touring in 2024 and 2025.
