Fables of the Fall

Fables of the Fall is an apocalyptic folk quintet known for a genre-bending sound they describe as 'chamber punk.' Formed in 2017 by Joshua 'Schwa' Michel as a solo project, it quickly expanded into a full ensemble featuring classical and folk-punk veterans. Their music blends traditional folk instrumentation—like clawhammer banjo and fiddle—with clarinet, cello, and heavy metal influences, often exploring themes of societal collapse and environmental anxiety. While based in the Denver DIY scene, the band has strong ties to the Midwest; member Barry Osborne originally hailed from Milwaukee, and the group has performed at underground Milwaukee venues like The Argo.
