About
Reggie "Smooth Az Butta" Brown is a cornerstone of the Milwaukee music and radio landscape. With a career spanning over 40 years, he is widely regarded as a pioneer for hip-hop and R&B in Wisconsin. He began DJing in high school at Riverside and Marshall, eventually adopting the moniker "Red UJ the Ultimate Jam" in the early 1980s. He later earned the nickname "Smooth Az Butta" from legendary rapper MC Lyte. Brown spent decades as a prominent host and DJ at V100.7 (WKKV-FM), where he was a central figure in the "V100.7 Mix Squad" and helped break numerous local and national artists. Known as the "King of Clubs," he has served as a mentor and connector for the Milwaukee underground scene and continues to be an active community leader and event host even after departing iHeartMedia in 2024.
