About
Formed in 1988, Cianide is a cornerstone of the Chicago extreme metal scene. Known for their uncompromising blend of old-school death metal with slow, crushing doom influences, the band has maintained a raw, underground sound for over three decades. Their 1992 debut, 'The Dying Truth', is widely regarded as a classic of the death-doom genre. Despite various lineup shifts over the years, founding members Mike Perun and Scott Carroll have remained the band's core, consistently delivering a signature style inspired by acts like Hellhammer, Celtic Frost, and Venom. Their discography includes several full-length albums such as 'A Descent into Hell' and 'Gods of Death', alongside numerous EPs and live recordings that cement their status as Midwestern death metal legends.
