About

Blake 7 was a Milwaukee-based progressive rock band formed in 1984. Initially starting as a cover band performing tracks by U2, The Alarm, The Cure, and The Cult, they transitioned to original material in 1986. That same year, the group won the Spruce Goose Battle of the Bands and gained a reputation for their original songs, eventually releasing a 10-track cassette LP featuring tunes like 'Into the Light,' 'Secrets,' and 'Innocent World.' The band was a staple of the Milwaukee underground scene in the late 1980s, performing at venues like Cafe Voltaire and major events like Summerfest. The lineup featured vocalist Kent Boyce, guitarist Dan Zilles, bassist Scott Walters, drummer Brad Zwieg, and keyboardist Chip Liefert. Founding member Bill Brunke (also known as Joe Cool) was also a key figure in the band's history.
