About

Big Black was an influential American band formed in Evanston, Illinois, by Steve Albini, active from 1981 to 1987. Known for their aggressive, abrasive sound, they utilized drum machines and distorted guitars to pioneer noise rock and post-hardcore while maintaining a staunchly independent, anti-commercial ethos.
