Argument
About
The Argument (frequently referred to as just Argument) is an influential alternative rock band formed in the summer of 1997 in Morgantown, WV. The lineup consists of Scott Simons (keyboards/vocals), Matt Warder (guitar), Brent Bunner (bass), and Chris Russell (drums). The members reportedly met at a Ben Folds Five concert in Pittsburgh and quickly became a staple of the Morgantown music scene, particularly at the venue 123 Pleasant Street (formerly Nyabinghi). Known for their airtight four-part vocal harmonies and sophisticated pop sensibilities, they shared stages with national acts like OK Go, Train, and Busta Rhymes. They released their debut album, 'Your New Favorite Band,' in 2000. After a long hiatus starting in the mid-2000s, during which members pursued other projects (including the non-profit music academy PopShopWV), the band reunited in 2023. They have since returned to active status, releasing new material such as the single 'Swimmingly' in April 2026 and performing sold-out homecoming shows.
