About
ARA is a technical death metal band from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, formed in early 2012. The project was founded by guitarist Jerry Hauppa and vocalist Erik Stenglein, both prominent figures in the Milwaukee underground scene and members of the sludge/doom band Northless. ARA distinguishes itself through a dissonant, progressive, and highly technical approach to death metal, often drawing comparisons to the Swedish band Anata. The group released their debut EP, 'The Blessed Sleep', in 2012, followed by their first full-length album, 'Devourer of Worlds', in 2014. After signing with Lavadome Productions, they released their sophomore full-length, 'Jurisprudence', in May 2020, which featured cover art by Eliran Kantor and further solidified their reputation for complex, atypical extreme metal.
