About
Ancient Rites was an underground thrash and death metal band from the West Allis and Milwaukee area, active during the late 1980s. They were part of the early Wisconsin extreme metal movement that included bands like Dr. Shrinker and Viogression. The group is primarily known in collector circles for their 1988 self-titled demo tape. They disbanded shortly after their formation, predating the international rise of the Belgian black metal band of the same name.
