Against the Plagues
About
Against the Plagues is a high-intensity extreme metal band formed in 2005 by drummer Varyen (Wawrzyniec Chylinski) and guitarist Adrian Adamus. Originally envisioned as a multi-national project with members from the U.S., Poland, and Sweden, the group evolved into a powerhouse of the Midwest extreme metal scene. Their discography includes the critically acclaimed albums 'Architecture of Oppression' (2007), 'Decoding the Mainframe' (2010), and 'Purified Through Devastation' (2015). Known for their technical precision and atmospheric depth, the band went on a hiatus in 2016 but triumphantly returned in 2021. As of 2024, the group is active with a refreshed lineup featuring vocalist Zion Meagher and is preparing the release of their new album, 'Paradise Declined.' Although based in Chicago, the band maintains strong ties to Wisconsin, frequently recording at Belle City Sounds in Racine with renowned producer Chris Wisco.
