About
Accursed formed in 1993 in Wauwatosa, a suburb of Milwaukee, following the merger of two local underground acts, Sickness and Astaroth. The band is remembered as one of the early pioneers of the "Blackened Death Metal" sound in the Midwest, blending the brutal, rhythmic intensity of death metal with the atmospheric and ritualistic themes of black metal. Their lyrical content primarily focused on death, melancholy, and ancient mysticism. During their short but impactful run, they recorded several demos that circulated widely in the tape-trading underground. Their defining work, the full-length album "Meditations Among The Tombs", was released in 1995 through Visceral Productions. The band remained a staple of the Milwaukee metal underground until their dissolution in the mid-90s.
